One of two Spanish citizens detained for allegedly plotting a terror attack in Lithuania is also a Russian national, El Mundo, a major Spanish daily, reported on Tuesday.
The pair are accused of plotting to set fire to a Šiauliai-based telecommunications company, TVC Solutions. According to El Mundo, the company produces equipment bound for Ukraine.
“It happened last September, although it had not come to public attention until now,” El Mundo wrote. “Two Spanish citizens, at least one of whom was also a Russian national, flew from Spain to northern Lithuania with the aim, according to the case, of carrying out an attack in the city of Šiauliai.”

They failed in their efforts and fled to Latvia’s capital Riga, where they were later detained and handed over to Lithuania.
Spain is now providing consular assistance, El Mundo reported.
This case follows a string of attacks by Russian secret services across Europe, including sending self-igniting parcels via DHL from Lithuania.
